Position Summary:
Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth is seeking a full-time Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting the Sisters. This critical role assists in creating and managing nursing care plans and will participate in evaluating the Sisters’ current and future medical needs.

What You’ll Do - Essentials Duties:

• Delivers routine daily oral, inhalation and topical medications to residents as delegated by a licensed nurse unless per physician orders.
• Observes for any adverse drug reactions and reports any problems to the nurse.
• Records medication administration according to company policies and procedures.
• Follows written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
• Observes residents for changes and documents changes in their condition accordingly.
• Performs tasks associated with medication administration, including vital signs, medication dose calculations, stocking of the medication carts, and removal of discontinued medications.
• Practices safe handling and storage of medications.
• Responds to resident requests and other direct care duties as assigned.
• Treats all residents with dignity and respect.  Promotes and protects all residents’ rights.
• Coordinate with charge nurse to assist with resident care and passing medications.
• Collect samples when directed by charge nurse.
• Respond to resident call lights to identify resident needs.
• Uphold all health and safety standards.
• Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
• Maintains confidentiality of protected health information.
• Passing of fresh water to Sisters’ rooms and encourages hydration.
• Assist with carrying out daily living activities.
• Accompany Sisters to Chapel for prayers.
• Passes snacks and follows dietician’s recommendations.
• Occasionally accompanies Sisters to doctor’s appointments.
• Assuring the physical comfort and mental well-being of Sisters.
• Assist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, responding to calls, etc..
• Detecting/correcting situations that have a high probability of causing accidents/injuries to Sisters.
• Observing and reporting symptoms, reactions, and changes.
• Encouraging and participating in rehabilitative measures.
• Helps keep Sisters’ rooms neat and clean.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk, engage in a full range of motion, ability to lift/carry medium weight (up to 35 pounds), engage in pushing and pulling light weight; must have normal peripheral vision, normal vision, and hearing (after correction); must have normal depth perception and sense of touch.
• Ability to move about with reasonable accommodation, reach, turn, twist, and touch.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 12 hours.
• Must be able to operate building equipment.
• Must be able to provide personal care to residents, ambulating, lifting, toileting, and turning individuals of at least 150 pounds.

Working Environment:

• Works in various settings to include office environments, resident rooms, and well-lighted hallways.
• Subject to frequent interruptions.
• Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, and ventilated office.
• Some trips outdoors will be required.
• May be exposed to various health-related materials, such as blood and body fluids, oxygen containers in use in work area.
• Employees may be required to perform other related duties and activities.
