Lakeview Village is a continuing care retirement community.  We have an opening for a Maintenance Engineer to work Full Time.

Lakeview's Maintenance Engineer ensures machinery, equipment, systems, utilities, and infrastructures around Lakeview Village campus run optimally to decrease downtime, increase efficiency, and provide tenant comfort.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Conduct and oversee audits pertaining to maintenance processes.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults, failures, and malfunctions with equipment and machinery.
  • Organize, maintain, and complete preventative and planned maintenance.
  • Establish and execute maintenance procedures and protocols based on manufacturer recommendations.
  • Train staff on equipment operation and maintenance procedures
  • Respond to major equipment breakdowns
  • Forecast and plan strategic system overhauls, upgrades, and replacement.
  • Procure, test, and commission specialty components, fixtures, fittings, and other material.
  • Maintain and operate building management system for HVAC and lighting controls.
  • Maintain fire sprinkler systems.
  • Maintain the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in proper working condition.
  • Coordinate and complete boiler room and mechanical room repairs.
  • Coordinate annual boiler inspections and maintain records.
  • Provide maintenance to kitchen equipment.
  • Provide maintenance to laundry equipment.
  • May be required to operate a Lakeview Village vehicle as needed.
  • Assists in snow and ice removal from streets, parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, porches, walkways, and other heavily traversed areas by using snow blowers, shovels, ice scrapers, and a vehicle equipped with attachments. Spreads salt and ice melt on affected areas before and after snowfall.
  • Maintains after hours and on-call availability for emergencies, including snow removal and flood/storm-related campus issues, with potential for rotating weekend, evening, and night shifts ensuring 24/7 coverage during critical situations.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 10 years maintenance industry experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Engineer required.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems is highly preferred.
  • Certification in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or other building trade preferred.
  • Required to have a valid class C driver’s license.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings/plans.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a small group of workers to complete project.
  • Exercises independent judgment where procedures cannot be standardized.
  • Communicates professionally on the phone, in writing, and in person with people from diverse backgrounds, using the English language when necessary.
  • Appropriately sets priorities, meets deadlines, and works independently.
  • Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
  • Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to detect and avoid errors.
